Soccer is very important in Brazil. "Football" means soccer to them. Poor families who can't afford junior leagues play on the street just so they can play at all! When there is a game,EVERYTHING shuts down!

Soccer Heroes

Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pele) is known as the king of soccer because of his motivation and skill.  He has won Brazil the World Cup in 1958, 1962, and in 1970.  He retired from his glory in 1975.

World Cup 2014

The 2014 World Cup will be held in Brazil.  All business will shut down for it.  Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said, "We don’t have any stadium which is in a condition to host World Cup games. We’re going to have to build at least 12 new stadiums in this country.”
